What is Poople Unlimited?

Poople Unlimited is the practice mode of this site: the same word ladder game as the daily Poople, without the one-a-day limit. Every round starts from a new four-letter word with a known shortest path to POOP. You change one letter at a time, every word along the way has to be a real word, and the fewer guesses you need the better. When you reach POOP the shortest ladder is shown, so each puzzle teaches the next one. Undo and hints are always on, and nothing you do here touches your daily streak.

The original Poople at poople.io publishes one start word a day and keeps no archive, so there is no way to practise there. Poople Unlimited exists to fill that gap: endless puzzles here, every past day in the Poople archive, and a Poople solver for any two words.

How are Poople Unlimited's difficulties set?

Every start word in the three pools was run through the same breadth-first search that scores the daily, so "easy", "medium" and "hard" mean the true shortest distance to POOP, not a guess. Easy words are three or four steps away. Medium words are exactly five, which is the most common par for a real daily. Hard words are six or more, and some need eight. There are 371 easy, 389 medium and 283 hard starting words, 1,043 in all. Words are drawn without repeats until a pool is exhausted, then it reshuffles.

How to use Poople Unlimited to get better at the daily

Play five medium puzzles and watch where your ladders bend. Most wasted guesses happen in the first two moves, before the O's are planted in the middle of the word. Once you can see that pattern, switch to hard mode, where the start word often has no useful vowel at all and the route has to go through a bridge like PLOP or PROP. When the real daily Poople throws a par 7 at you, you will have seen the shape before. If a round goes wrong, press Reveal, read the shortest ladder, and start another: on Poople Unlimited a lost round costs nothing.

Tips for solving Poople ladders faster

• Know the gateway words. In the original word list only 11 words are one letter away from POOP: BOOP, COOP, GOOP, HOOP, LOOP, PLOP, POMP, POOF, POOL, POOR, PROP. Every ladder ends through one of them, so the real puzzle is reaching a gateway fast.
• Plant the O's early. POOP has O in the second and third positions. A start word with no O usually needs two moves just for the vowels, which is why par 5 is the most common length.
• Work backwards. From POOP, think one step out (POOL, LOOP, COOP), then two (POLL, LOOK, COOL). If your start word is one change from any of those, you are done in three.
• Change the position that matches POOP last. A letter already in the right place is progress; moving it away costs two guesses.

Yes. Poople Unlimited is free to play, with no account, no download and no daily limit. It is supported by ads. Progress and stats stay in your own browser.

Does Poople Unlimited count toward my daily streak?

No. Unlimited rounds keep their own counter. Your daily streak and daily stats only move when you finish the day's puzzle on the home page, so you can practise as much as you like without risking anything.

How many Poople Unlimited puzzles are there?

There are 1,043 starting words across the three difficulties: 371 easy, 389 medium and 283 hard. Each pool is drawn without repeats until it runs out, then it reshuffles, so you will not see the same word twice in a sitting.

Why did a word count in Poople Unlimited but not in the daily?

Unlimited mode uses our own list of 3,237 four-letter words, which is larger than the 2,398-word list the original Poople uses. The daily on this site uses the original's list, so a bridge that works here can be rejected there. The Poople solver can check any ladder against either list.

Can I replay past Pooples instead of random words?

Yes. The Poople archive has every official puzzle from #0 to yesterday, playable with the original word list, and each day has an answer page with every shortest ladder.

Is Poople Unlimited the official Poople?
